Music

Whether it is part of daily worship or in-class teaching, music is a part of Marden Lodge throughout the school year. Music can
help to develop the skills, attitudes and attributes that can support learning in other national curriculum subjects. This
includes listening skills, the ability to concentrate, creativity, intuition, sensitivity, perseverance, the ability to work in a group,
self confidence and sensitivity towards others.

Currently we use a themed approach, Cornerstones (https://cornerstoneseducation.co.uk/).  We will be creating a curriculum which enables children to work individually and collaboratively.  Music will be taught so that children learn the sound and meaning of a piece music while appreciating a variety of different styles.  Children will be able to explore and experiment, developing a love and appreciation for the subject. Teachers will assess children on their enthusiasm and participation during lessons.

Our high-quality music education will engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they should develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and to listen with discrimination to the best in the musical canon
