Discover more about our high expectations and enthusiastic pupils

We are an inclusive school with enthusiastic children who are supported from the first day they start with us.

We have ‘industrious classrooms’ with motivated children - just two reasons Marden Lodge Primary School attained a Good status in our last Ofsted inspection.

Pupils enjoy a range of extra-curricular activities and special events which punctuate their learning and we aim high at all times with core values embodied in our daily lives.

Parents are ‘overwhelmingly’ supportive of the school and told Ofsted inspectors that communication from leaders was good and they value the regular updates they receive.

“Teachers know pupils well and plan engaging lessons that motivate them to do their best. Because of this, pupils enjoy their time in classrooms and their progress is accelerating,” noted the inspectors.

“Because of the quality of assessment, pupils in danger of falling behind are identified quickly and high quality interventions are put in place,” added the report.

“Pupils benefit from a caring, nurturing environment. Pastoral needs are met well, especially those of pupils with complex needs. Specialist staff who deal specifically with the social and emotional aspects of pupils’ welfare are effective in their work,” it said.

The good behaviour of pupils was also highlighted and they were said to be polite, with good manners and a good understanding of how to stay safe in and outside of school, including using the internet.

“Children get off to a good start in the early years provision because of the excellent quality of care and support afforded to them by staff. This is especially the case in the reception year where an increasing proportion of children are achieving a good level of development,” said the inspector.

Teaching staff at the school have high expectations of the pupils, both in terms of learning and behaviour and consistently good teaching ensures children make progress during their time at the school.
